The Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has given a 7-day ultimatum, effective Monday, June 6, 2022 to a news medium, THE TRUMPET, to retract his name in aspects of a story headlined, “Uneasy calm in Warri Kingdom over unsubstantiated rumours,” or face litigation.
A very piqued Chief Emami, who warned the publisher of the medium and a certain Gabriel Omonhinmin, author of the, ” unprofessional story dated June 3,2022 ” vehemently stated that he will not allow his hard earned reputation, to be dragged into the mud by any person or group of persons, seeking undue attention by venturing into junk and jaundiced piece of journalism as acknowledged in the story headline with the phrase, ” unsubstantiated rumours .”
He stated: ” Let me place it on good record that nobody has approached me to drop my case in court as it affects succession to the exalted throne of Olu of Warri. As one of the custodians of the culture and tradition of Itsekiri people, I will not be part of any plot to denigrate the revered throne of Olu of Warri Kingdom. I will continually defend my reputation and prestige of the throne of Olu of Warri, irrespective of the misinformation peddled by pockets of persons, who understand little or nothing about the culture and tradition of Itsekiri people.
” Publisher of The Trumpet and author of the ridiculous story, should immediately retract aspects that made reference to my person and reputation or be prepared to face immediate litigation.”
