Urhobo Youths Social Congress (UYSC) calls for a debate between the trio of Chief Ighoyota Amori, Hon. Evelyn Oboro and Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
We are making this request without being presumptuous and for the following reasons:
- We believe that election is the only process through which the people can make their own choices, and therefore, a debate of all major interests in the 2019 race for the Delta Central Senatorial seat, will in no doubt guide the electorate in making proper decision, much more than the many promises of all types of candidates where some are mere contenders, and some are mere pretenders like we’ve had in past elections.
- Our people have come to the realization that a lot of politicians go to the Universities and other Higher Institutions to get Degrees and Certificates, not so much for the purpose of enhancing their intellectual capacity but merely to boost their social and political visibility because of Society’s unbridled glorification of paper qualifications. Unfortunately, most of these qualifications are not necessarily backed up by corresponding intellectual capacity or commensurate level of literary competence. In light of the above, we therefore call for a debate between the three major interests in the 2019 Delta Central Senatorial race so that our people can ascertain their intellectual preparedness.
- For us, Urhobo Youths Social Congress, a debate between the three major interests is more important than any other thing as it will illuminate the true status of their legislative capacities.
We strongly believe that no Urhobo man or woman can afford to miss this golden opportunity of verifying the readiness of those who are aspiring to represent them in 2019; especially when they are from the same Senatorial District and the same religion, with no sectarian or ethnic motive.
