As part of its advocacy functions and as a way of giving back to the society, all is now set for the Warri Boys Social and Welfare Society (aka Warri Boys Association, WBA), Lagos, to revitalise Warri by building a thriving future through a webinar series.
President of WBA and a Finance Specialist, Mr. Matthew Ogagavworia, FCA, and the Public Relations Officer, who is a veteran filmmaker and media consultant Alex Eyengho, made this known in a press statement issued in Lagos recently.
According to the press statement, speakers at the maiden edition of the webinar series are Mr. Vwede J. Obahor, a notable poet, filmmaker, and business advisor who will speak on the topic, “the Warri we want: yesterday, today and tomorrow,” and another notable poet, Mr. Eriata Orhibhabor (Di Poet), who will speak on “strengthening the social, cultural and traditional values of Warri through arts and literature.” President of WBA, Ogagavworia, FCA, will moderate the webinar which holds on April 20, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
They further disclosed that the target audience for the webinar which will be held on Zoom and streamed on YouTube, include but not limited to stakeholders in the Warri project, government functionaries at the State and Local Government levels, members of the political class, political aspirants, oil and gas industry players, journalists, among others.
WBA is a non-governmental body that brings people of like minds, either born, lived, worked, or schooled in Warri city and its environs together for a common purpose. It is a body whose members are drawn from males who have taken a special interest in the growth and development of Warri and its environs so as to make it to take special place in the scheme of things in Delta State in particular and Nigeria in general
WBA is a non-profit society with a vision to lead conversation on the growth and development of Warri and its environs. It is the dream of its founders that Warri must not only return to those halcyon days but also period of boom, conviviality, richness, and prosperity. It is the firm thinking of its members that Warri must occupy its rightful place in the reckoning of both the State and Federal Government when infrastructure and special interest are being fashioned in policy making.
