The President of Itsekiri National Youths Council, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro has cautioned those claiming ownership of Ogbe-Ijoh market and its environs to desist from acts capable of throwing Warri into crisis situation.
Agbateyiniro stated that the market and its environs belong to the Itsekiri ethnic nationality under the overlordship of the Olu of Warri, stressing that no other ethnic nationality have claim to the land as all issues bothering on the land have since been settled in favour of the Itsekiris.
Comrade Agbateyiniro while throwing its weight behind the publication made by the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought on the claim by the people of Agbarha-Urhobo, Agbassa and the Ijaws of Ogbe-Ijoh, submitted that Itsekiris are peace-loving people who believes in the rule of law.
“It is criminal for Agbarha-Urhobo (Agbassa) and the Ogbe-Ijoh people to claim what does not belong to them. It is provocative and could lead to another round of crisis if the State Government does not call the people of Agbarha-Urhobo, Agbassa and Ogbe – Ijoh to order,” he warned.
While calling on the State Governor, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to take necessary measures and stop this broad daylight criminality, Agbateyiniro further warned that the peaceful disposition of the Itsekiri people should not be taken for granted.
